Gridlock was broken in the Senate (about time).
Senate Republicans agreed to hold up or down votes on nominees to agencies that protect workers, consumers and our environment. This paved the way for the confirmations of Thomas Perez as Secretary of Labor and Rob Cordray as director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
Senate Republicans also agreed to votes on two new nominees for the NLRB before Aug. 1 so the board will be able to operate with a quorum.
Thank you to all the activists who mobilized on this issue. A functioning NLRB is crucial for enforcing workers’ rights to organize and bargain with their employers.
