We’d like to congratulate the NFLRA for reaching a new 8-year deal with the NFL. We’re thrilled they’re back on the field.
Up until this point, the NFL season has been marred by the referee lockout. NFL owners locked out the union referees leaving the league and its fans with a series of embarrassing blown calls, not to mention increased risks to player safety. For many, the missed call that decided Monday night’s game was the last straw.
The lockout of union referees threatened player safety, fan enjoyment and the integrity of the sport. It also showed that training matters. Just like the regular NFL refs, union members everywhere are some of the most skilled workers in their profession.
This is but one high-profile example of highly skilled professionals who receive quality training through their union. In fact, the labor movement is the largest workforce trainer of adults outside the military. As NFL fans found out, it makes a difference.
